A motorcycle accident on Sunday in an area of 1319 Highway 421 South. Decatur County Coroner Charity Banks told WTRE news that 44-year old Craig Kroger died in that accident having been taken from the scene to Decatur County Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
News release from Decatur County Sheriff Bill Meyerrose –
On Sunday, February 4, 2024 at approximately 5:22 PM, Decatur County Dispatch
received a 911 call advising of a motorcycle crash in the 1300 block of S. US Hwy. 421.
Upon arrival of Deputies of the Decatur County Sheriff’s Dept., the operator and only
passenger on the motorcycle was located with severe trauma and unconscious. The
driver was transported to the Decatur County Memorial Hospital where he was
pronounced deceased.
The driver of the motorcycle was identified as Craig R. Kroger, 44 years of age, of
Greensburg. The motorcycle was a 2018 Harley Davidson, registered to Kroger.
A witness to the crash stated it appeared the motorcycle may have been having
mechanical issues as the motorcycle, traveling southbound, was wobbling and out of
control. The motorcycle went off the side of the road and crashed into a mailbox.
Kroger was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Assisting were the following agencies: Decatur County EMS, Greensburg Police Dept.,
Decatur County Communications, Greensburg Fire Dept., Statflight 5 and the Decatur
County Coroner’s Office.
