Greensburg Water Board

The Greensburg Water Board met on Tuesday.

This month’s employee recognition went to Scott Green. They have worked as a Water Plant operator for almost 5 years. The board appreciates all their hard work and efforts.

Darren Burkhart gave an HNTB update on the new surface water treatment plant. They are currently working on final documentation and they hope to be wrapped up with record drawings by the end of the month.

City Engineer Ron May came to the board to discuss an agreement with the county. This is for the county’s new highway department near the fairgrounds to be on city water and wastewater. The only issue is this area doesn’t have the best waterlines however this plan is still a work in progress. There was a letter presented to the city that states they do have the capacity at the water plant to take on the highway department once the plans are finalized. This was approved. May also discussed 2 new INDOT projects that will be on Main Street. One will be near the railroad tracks and one will be near the library. There are concerns that the waterline will most likely need to be rebuilt after the work. INDOT plans to begin in January 2024, however these plans are subject to change. It was recommended that the board allows the INDOT contractor to do all the extra work for them for simplicity purposes. No action needs to be taken yet on this item.
