BATESVILLE, Ind. – Margaret Mary Health today announced a revised opening date for its new
hospital, moving the first patient day from June 6 to August 8, 2026, following the identification of a
construction-related flooring issue that requires remediation.
Hospital leadership evaluated multiple options with key partners and determined that addressing
the issue before opening is the best course of action to ensure a safe, fully prepared care
environment for both patients and team members.
“We could have moved forward with our original opening date, but that would have required
ongoing construction in an active patient care setting,” said Liz Leising, CEO of Margaret Mary
Health. “That approach would introduce unnecessary disruption and complexity into an
environment where focus should remain entirely on patient care. By taking the time to resolve this
now, we are ensuring that when we open our doors, we do so in a space that fully supports our
teams and reflects the level of care our community expects from us.”
The decision reflects Margaret Mary Health’s continued commitment to delivering high-quality care
in an environment designed to support both patients and healthcare professionals from day one.
As a result of this change, the Community Open House date will also be adjusted from May 31 to
Sunday, August 2, 2026. Additional details about the grand opening and community events will be
shared in the coming weeks. Margaret Mary Health expressed appreciation for the community’s
understanding and support as preparations continue for first patient day.
“We recognize this change may be disappointing, but it is the right decision for our patients, our
team members and our community,” Leising added. “While delays are not uncommon in projects of
this size and complexity, what matters most is how we respond. Our focus is on getting this right,
so we can open a facility that is complete, fully operational and ready to deliver the level of care
our patients deserve.”
