The family of the late Chad Holtkamp of Greensburg awarded the 20th annual Chad Holtkamp Memorial Volunteerism and Community Service Award to Mason Morris earlier this summer.
Mason is the son of Matt and Ashley Morris and just completed his 10th year of 4-H. He is a graduate of North Decatur High School where he played basketball.
Mason is a committed 4-H’er and showed it through his work ethic and drive towards excellence, especially in the swine barn.
Holtkamp was a lifelong Decatur County resident and had been a 10-year 4-H’er and community volunteer. He was born with spina bifida, which posed health challenges throughout life and caused him to use a wheelchair. He died in 2005 at the age of 25.
The award was announced by his sisters, Christy Norton and Michele Holtkamp, and was given at the annual 10-year member dinner at the Decatur County 4-H Fair.
