On a wet, rainy field, the Chargers found a way to win and advance to its third sectional championship game in as many years. To advance, the Chargers had to defeat a well-known foe in the Milan Indians. The Indians struck first with a touchdown run by Logan Reed. The Chargers would answer back with an 11 yard run by Reid Messer. The Chargers would strike again early in the second carry on a 21 yard touchdown run again by Reid Messer. The tale of the tape for the first half was extra points, which the Chargers hit and the Indians did not. The Indians entered halftime down 14-6. The Indians would rectify that with a long touchdown pass from Brayden Rohrig to Jeremiah Johnson. With a failed two point conversion, the Indians still trailed by two points. The Chargers would answer again in the third quarter and would put the game away in the fourth quarter, both on touchdown runs from Reid Messer. Messer had 254 yards on the ground and four touchdowns. The Chargers defense held the Indians to only 239 yards of total offense for the evening. The defending sectional champions now face the Tri-High Titans on the road on November 5, 2021. |
