North Decatur Elementary and Middle School Archery Headed to State Competition

North Decatur Elementary and Middle School will both compete at the National Archery in the Schools
Program State Tournament.

The middle school team, comprised of 29 students from 6th to 8th grade, has qualified for the state
competition in the bullseye category. The elementary team, consisting of 25 students in 4th and 5th grade, will also compete in the bullseye event. Additionally, 8th graders Lydia Schwartz and LaShay Dwiggins have both earned spots to compete individually in the 3D competition.

Following an outstanding 2023-2024 season, the middle school team is eager to continue their success.
Meanwhile, the elementary team is excited to demonstrate their growth with the largest roster they’ve had in years. So far this season, both teams have achieved remarkable results:
Both the elementary and middle school teams have finished in the top 5 in all five meets held this
year.
Seven archers have placed in the top 3 within their divisions at meets from November to February,
including:
Eighth grader Lydia Schwartz (2nd, 3rd, 1st, and 2nd respectively)
Fifth grader Landon Dwiggins (3rd)
Fifth grader Kolten Crickmore (2nd)
Fourth grader Audrey Readnour (3rd)
Eighth grader Kaeleigh Amburgey (2nd)
Eighth grader LaShay Dwiggins (2nd)
Numerous archers have reached personal bests throughout the season. Notably, three archers have scored perfect 50s at multiple meets this year. Eighth grader Lydia Schwartz has consistently placed in the top 3 in all the meets she has participated.
15 elementary and 19 middle school archers have been honored as academic archers for their
achievements in academics.

The state competition is scheduled for March 8 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Archers qualified based
on their individual and team scores at a state qualifying meet held in late January.
