Officers respond to a report of criminal trespassing and end up making an arrest

Greensburg, IN – On April 11, 2022 at approximately 07:32 am Officer Stephen
Hershberger responded to a report of criminal trespassing. Officer Hershberger
arrived on scene and recognized the suspect to be Jerry Lee Jones of Greensburg,
Indiana. Officer Hershberger approached Jones and advised him that he was under
arrest. When Officer Hershberger attempted to place him into handcuffs Jones
pulled away from Officer Hershberger and told him to get off of him. Officer
Hershberger and assisting Officers were able to place Jones into handcuffs and
transport him to the Decatur County Jail.
Jones was arrested on allegations involving of Resisting Law enforcement a Class A Misdemeanor,
Criminal Trespass a Class A Misdemeanor and Possession of Marijuana a Class B
Misdemeanor. The Greensburg Police Department would like to thank the Decatur
County Sheriff’s Department for their help in this case.
Under law, criminal charges are merely accusation and the defendants are
presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
