

The Decatur County REMC (DCREMC) Community Trust committee recently met to review Operation
Roundup grant requests. The committee awarded nine local organizations a total of $14,900 in grant
funds from the Decatur County REMC Community Trust. Organizations receiving awards include:
- Wayside Inn Homeless Shelter – $1,000 to purchase personal hygiene items and clothing
for their residents as needed - Decatur County Parks and Recreation Department – $1,500 to purchase supplies and
cover other expenses for Camp Rainbow - Advocates for Children – $1,000 toward paying mileage reimbursement for volunteer
advocates - New Directions of Decatur County- $1,200 to provide trauma care workbooks to
survivors - Campbell Township Volunteer Fire Dept. – $3,000 to purchase a grain rescue tube, auger
and vacuum to be used for grain bin entrapment rescue operations - Girls Inc. of Shelbyville & Shelby County – $1,200 to help fund the Breathe Clean:
Avoid Vaping Scene school program - Marion Township Volunteer Fire Department- $2,500 to help replace AED’s that are out
of date and difficult to purchase supplies for - Immaculate Conception Parish (Millhousen)- $2,500 to help replace AED’s that are out
of date and difficult to purchase supplies for - Living Waters Church of God- $1,000 toward purchasing replacement windows

Community, and our members demonstrate their commitment to giving back and making an impact
through this program.
Operation Roundup is a member-funded program established to support local charitable organizations serving DCREMC members and communities. When DCREMC members round up their bill to the next whole dollar each month, they are making a direct impact in their community. With DCREMC’s
Operation Roundup, a little change can do a lot. Since the program was established in 1999, DCREMC has awarded 357 grants totaling over $638,000. Operation Roundup information and grant applications can be found on the DCREMC website, dcremc.com. Non-profit organizations may apply for the next grant cycle by July 31, 2025
