State Road 3 in Rush County closed for bridge work

RUSH COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation will close State Road 3 from I-74 to IN 244 for bridge work.  SR 3 will be closed from I-74 near Greensburg to IN 244 in Rush County, 7 miles south of Rushville.The road will close at the end of the April. It is scheduled to reopen at the beginning of June.During construction, the public is asked to slow down and be mindful of crews in the area. All work is weather dependent. In 2019, Indiana Criminal Justice Institute reported that distracted driving from mobile devices was a factor in at least 1,263 crashes and three fatal crashes. To make Hoosier roads safer, Governor Eric J. Holcomb signed the Indiana Hands-Free law to reduce distracted driving across the state. Beginning July 1, 2020, drivers are prohibited from holding a mobile device, except in emergencies, while their vehicles are moving.
