Two incumbants lose in Decatur County

Republican Charles Emsweller beat incumbent Rick Nobbe in today’s election. Emsweller received 7950 votes over 4067 votes cast for Nobbe for Decatur County Commissioner.

Nicholas Messer beat the incumbent Decatur County Community School board member in District C. Messer received 2440 votes, Timothy Roscoe 1762 votes.

For the three Decatur County Council at large seats up for election – incumbants Ernest Gauck and William Metz were re-elected. Gauck with 7172 votes and Metz with 7113 votes. Melanie Nobbe joins the council with 7040 votes. All three were the Republican candidates. The only Democrat candidate seeking a seat on the council was Matthew Boersma who received 2790 votes.

Voter turn-out in Decatur County was 71.13 percent. Decatur County has 17,451 registered voters with 12,413 votes cast.

There were 3460 straight ticket Republican voters, 529 Democratic, and 10 Libertarian.
