Vehicle Accident occurred on the Thursday

 

GREENSBURG, IN.— On Thursday October 1, 2026, at approximately 5:45 P.M., Decatur County Communications received a call of an accident at the intersection of State Road 3 and Lincoln St. The caller, an off duty Greensburg Police Officer reported that the crash involved a vehicle and an e-bike

 

Emergency responders arrived and found a passenger car driven by Branden Garrison, 42 of Greensburg and the e-bike being driven by Bernard Haskamp, 58 of Greensburg in the intersection. 

 

The driver of the car and several witnesses all advised that the car was proceeding south on State Road 3 under the direction of a green traffic light when Haskamp crossed into traffic. Haskamp struck the side of Garrison’s car while it was attempting to stop to avoid the collision.

 

Haskamp was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was transported to the Decatur County Hospital and later life flighted to Methodist Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Hasskamp’s medical status is currently unknown.

 

Drivers are reminded to use care when approaching and passing through intersections. Bicycle riders are reminded to use care and follow the rules of the roads when operating on a public roadway.
