Washington Township Trustee and Advisory Board Meet

On Tuesday January 31st at 5:00pm Washington Township Trustee Beverly Rivera and the Washington Township Advisory Board met for a discussion of a variety of topics.

Old business was reviewed and updated. Trustee Rivera and Trustee Office Assistant Lori Garringer have continued with ongoing training since taking office on January 1st. The new location of the Trustee Office, which is located on North Lincoln Street in the Studebaker Studio, is now set up completely with all office equipment relocated to this office. The website and Facebook pages for the office are now updated and the updates have been sent to the county website to be posted.

In new business the Trustee and Board discussed several financial transactions from the previous administration that have been presented for payment. It was decided to investigate further before payment is issued in these matters. An update on the weather sirens in Washington Township, status on cleanup at Lake McCoy and the plans as to what will be done at that location, Staff changes, and the policy of assistance for transient people were all discussed during the meeting. Also brought to the attention of the board were setting guidelines for payment of larger expenditures through the office and guidelines for all contracts to be brought before the board for review as well as an Internal Controls policy being established. It was noted that the State Board of Accounts has begun an audit on the 2022 Financial records to review expenditures and entries during that period and is expected to continue the audit on records 2018-2022 as the last audit was held in 2017.

The next meeting will be held on February 21, 2023 at 5pm at the Trustee Office (Conference Room) 1030 N. Lincoln Street, Greensburg, IN 47240. Meetings are open to the public.
