Westport man taken into custody following a crash in Jennings County

On March 7, 2024, at approximately 6:27pm, Jennings County Deputies Dylan Smock and Sergeant Ben Seastrom were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of State Highway 3 and County Road 675 North. Dispatchers informed deputies that the caller stated that the driver of the vehicle was walking away from the accident scene.

A short time later deputies arrived on scene and were informed by bystanders that the driver was last seen walking northbound on State Highway 3 and walked into the woods on the west side of the roadway. Deputy Smock walked into the woods and observed the driver running in the opposite direction. Deputies announced themselves at which time the male fled on foot. After a lengthy foot pursuit and the utilization of a Taser the male subject was taken into custody without further incident.

The driver, Bradley Lovingood, 31, Westport Indiana was treated by Rescue 20 on scene and transported to the hospital for further evaluation. After evaluation at the hospital, Mr. Lovingood was transported to the Jennings County Jail and is facing allegations on the following preliminary charges

-Operating a Vehicle while Intoxicated A Misdemeanor

-Leaving the Scene of an Accident C Misdemeanor

-Resisting Law Enforcement A Misdemeanor
