Westport Town Council

Westport Town Council met on Monday. The council signed the funeral deeds, payroll vouchers, adjustments, and monthly bills.

There was an update on the Westport Water Projects. The plant is now operational. The board approved the certificate of substantial completion for both contractors. Now that the substantial completion is approved, they can now make a use of remaining funds request. These funds would be used for drinking water related projects if it were approved by the USDA. The board approved 2 change orders. The engineers for the stormwater project are working on a runoff model.

Vice President of the Community Building Committee Kenny Marshall presented the repair estimates to the board. This covers all repairs needed except for those that are open-ended about the full extent of work needed. The board will review these repair cost estimates.

Resolution 2022-4 to adopt an employee policy was approved.

Billy Kirkham with North Point Partners came to the board to discuss town employee medical insurance. The option presented will decrease their costs and still covers all employee needs. This was approved.

Resolution 2022-5 for title 6 implementation was approved. This is the policies and federal guidelines regarding discrimination that they must follow in the workplace.

There will be a Westport Waterway Cleanup happening soon. The dumpster will be back on April 21 for town cleanup. Small electronics shredding will be April 23 from 9-11.

The board approved the demolition of 2 burnt condemned buildings for $14,500.
