Westport Wesleyan Church will see Big Changes this Year

WESTPORT — Big changes are ahead for Westport Wesleyan Church.

After more than 100 years in the same building, the church will be moving this spring to a new location at 601 E. Main Street.

The building the congregation has called home since 1915 holds a lot of memories, and church leaders say they’re grateful for all that has happened there — but they also believe it’s time for the next chapter.

Over the last few years, the church has been in a season of transition and growth, and this move is part of what’s next.

Along with the new building comes a new name. When the church moves, it will become Connect on Main, with the name rolling out over the coming months.

Leaders say the new name better reflects who they are and what they’re trying to do: connect people — to Jesus, to each other, and to the community.

“Connect on Main really says it all,” church leaders shared. “We want to be a place where people feel welcome and where real connections happen.”

The name also ties directly to the new location on Main Street, which leaders say represents being visible, accessible, and involved in everyday life — not tucked away, but right in the heart of the community.

They were clear that while the name and address are changing, the foundation is not. The church will continue to teach the Bible, follow Jesus, and serve the community in the same ways it always has.

“This isn’t about leaving our past behind,” leaders said. “It’s about stepping into what we believe God is leading us toward.”

Church leaders say the move and new name are setting the stage for continued growth and a renewed sense of purpose as they head into the future.
