Chargers Football

North Decatur traveled to Lapel high school to battle the Bulldogs on Friday. A slow moving game the Chargers led the first quarter 15-7. The game went into half time with no score change. However by the end of four after a weather delay the Chargers came out winners.

North Decatur write-up –

The boys of blue traveled to Lapel and fought a bare-knuckled brawl against 2A Lapel.  The Bulldogs took the opening kick-off and marched down the field but were unable to find the end zone due to a Charger goalline stand.  Following a three-and-out and punt, the ‘Dogs found the end zone on a 26-yard pass to Brice Burress at the 6:13 mark in the first quarter.  The Chargers would answer on a 67-yard pass and run to Corbin Thackery.  The Chargers would strike again at the 10-second mark of the first quarter.   The second quarter would find both teams battling defensively, and the score at half-time was 15-7.  The Chargers received the second-half kick-off, but Lapel would find the end zone at the 7:51 mark of the third.  The Chargers answered at the 9:50 mark of the 4th before the entire contest was put on hold for a lightning delay.   When play resumed, the Chargers took advantage and found the endzone twice more to end the contest.  The Chargers ended the contest with 368 yards of total offense and 221 yards rushing.  Defensively, the Chargers held the potent Lapel offense to 331 yards of total offense.  The Chargers next face the Connersville Spartans at home.
