EIAC Tennis

Greensburg represented well in the individual EIAC tournament over the last few days. Getting the toughest draw of the conference was #1 singles player Jenna Foster who lost to East Central 6-7(4-7), 5-7. East Central went on to easily win the conference at that spot. Their player, Heidi Kane is committed to play tennis next year at Thomas Moore. #2 singles, Abigail Hoeing won the first round defeating Connersville 6-1 6-1, then defeated Franklin County 6-0 6-0 and lost in the championship match to East Central 1-6, 2-6. At #3 singles, Josie Nobbe earned all-conference honors winning the tournament by defeating Connersville, 6-0 6-1; East Central 6-0 6-3; and then winning the championship match over Lawrenceburg 6-1 6-2. Our #1 doubles team of Janae Comer and Ella Chapman were defeated in the first round by Lawrenceburg 2-6 4-6. Lawrenceburg went on to win that division. The #2 doubles team of Morgan Cain and Hailey Duerstock also earned all-conference honors by defeating Rushville 6-2 6-1; Batesville 6-0 6-1 and upsetting East Central in the finals 6-7 (4-7), 6-4, 10-7. After two long days of conference play, it’s now time to focus on the post- season. Sectional action will begin as early as Wednesday. The IHSAA draw is Monday evening.
