GJHS Cross Country competed in State Championship meet 10/2/21


The Greensburg Junior High Cross Country Teams completed their 2021 season after making a long trip to the west side of the state of Indiana. The Pirate Boys Team and Lexiyne Harris qualified and participated in the Indiana Middle School Cross Country State Championship Meet Saturday morning at the LaVern Gibson Course in Terre Haute. The best teams and individual athletes from around the state met in the infamous Cross Country Town USA to compete in the State Meet.
Lexiyne Harris concluded her outstanding GJHS career as a State Medalist by finishing in the top 25 of the Small School Division Girls Varsity Race. Harris placed 9th out of 313 competitors with a podium level finish and a new career best time of 11:13.2. Harris solidified the honor as the 2nd fastest Lady Pirate in GJHS XC history.
The GJHS Boys team also performed well at the State meet. The Boys Varsity team placed 16th out of 35 total small school teams. Quinton Walker led his teammates with a time of 11:17.1 and a 65th place finish out of 335 runners in the Small School Division. All the boys either ran personal best times or were within just a few seconds of their PRs. Landon Huff dropped the most time out of all the boys as he shed 1:52 from his previous best.
