Greensburg Cross Country competes in EIAC

Batesville High School hosted the EIAC Cross-Country Championships on Saturday morning.  The host Batesville won their second consecutive team title in the girls’ race.  Jayla Bedel was the individual winner leading the Bulldogs to the victory.  The Lady Pirates placed second as a team.  Greensburg finished the regular season with a record of 79-14.  

Greensburg had five girls earn all-conference.  Lulu Webb was the runner up in the race and had her best time of the season.  Webb broke 20:00 for the first time in 2026 running 19:58.7.  Maria Scholle placed 4th in a time of 20:20.4 to earn all-conference honors for the first time.  Alaina Bedel finished 10th overall with a time of 21:16.5.  The senior was all-EIAC for the fourth year in a row.  Alli Bedel came in 12thplace running 21:24.3, her best time ever for 5000m.  Bedel was all-EIAC for the first time and now ranks 18th in school history.  Josie Slaven crossed the line 13th.  She lowered her personal best to 21:36.8 and was also all-conference for the first time.  Slaven moved into 22nd all-time with her performance.  

Emma O’Sullivan broke the 25:00 barrier for the first time over the weekend.  She placed 25th in 24:57.1.  Chloie Davis also recorded a personal best.  She was 31st in 26:29.5.  Avonlee Bohall placed 35th in 27:43.7.  Senior Elizabeth Walden had her best race of the season.  Walden finished 37th overall in a personal best time of 28:02.0.    

The Greensburg boys won their 4th team title in the last 5 years.  Quinton Walker won his first race of 2026.  Walker was the individual champion earning conference MVP in a time of 17:01.0 as the senior earned all-conference for the fourth straight season.  Ben Schneider placed 4th and was all-EIAC.  Schneider lowered his personal best to 17:23.9.  Braylon Brancamp was also all-conference at Batesville on Saturday finishing 7th in 17:42.7, his fastest time ever for 5 km.  

Conner Bedel established a new personal record running 18:21.8 to take 16th overall.  Patrick Robbins placed 18th in 18:29.7, his best time ever.   Jackson Tekulve was 20thplace in 18:37.2.  Henry Corya crossed the finish line in 18:41.9, his fastest time of 2026.  Xavier Wade ran under 19:00 for the first time ever.  The senior placed 24th in 18:50.8.  Ethan Clifford lowered his season best to 18:55.9 placing 27th in the race.

Other finishers for the Pirates included Landen Fuel 44th in 20:30.3 (PR), Roy Middendorf Zavala 46th I 20:52.4 (PR), Kason Bedel 50th in 21:28.4, David Lutterbach 52nd in 22:02.3, Konnor Luers 56th in 22:47.9, Liam Hernandez 58thin 22:53.2 (PR), David Stallsmith 65th in 25:03.8 (PR).  Both teams race in the Brown County Sectional next weekend.  The girls’ race begins at 9:00 am with the boys to follow at 9:45 am.
