Greensburg Cross-Country Regional Results

Greensburg Cross-Country teams traveled to Evansville for the IHSAA Regional Meet 5 Saturday morning at the Angels Mounds cross-country course.  Spring Valley’s Calvin Seitz won the race with a time of 14:53.5.  Columbus North had six runners in the top 15 finishers as the Bulldogs captured the regional team title with 34 pts.  Other teams that qualified for the state meet next week included Bloomington North, Floyd Central, Barr-Reeve, and Bloomington South.  The Pirates placed 11th out of the 25 competing teams in Evansville.  With that performance, the boys finished the season with a record of 112-34 for 2025. 

Joe Hawkins was the top finisher for the Pirates at the Regional Meet over the weekend.   The senior ran 15:48.0 and was 17th place overall.  The finish qualified Hawkins for the IHSAA State Championships for the second year in a row.  Fellow senior Xavier Cassis ended his cross-country career with his fastest time ever for 5000m.  Cassis was 44th overall in a personal best time of 16:28.5.  That performance ranks 18th best in school history.  Quinton Walker also recorded a career best time on Saturday.  Walker broke the 17:00 barrier for the first time running 16:56.7 for 66th overall. 

Henry Corya established a new personal best on the Angel Mounds course Saturday morning as well.  The sophomore ran 18:01.4 to place 147th out of 246 runners.  Conner Bedel ran his best race of the season at the Regional Championships Saturday morning.  Bedel lowered his personal best time to 18:26.9 to take 183rd in the race.  Ethan Clifford broke 19:00 for the first time in his running career.  The junior’s time was 18:49.7, earning 201st.  Jackson Tekulve also ran under 19:00 for the first time ever.  Tekulve finished 204th in 18:52.0.        

Bloomington South had three of the top four finishers in the girls’ race to win the Regional Championship with 43 pts.  South’s Lexi Kollbaum led the way, running 17:32.7 for the individual victory.  Other teams that made the state finals included Floyd Central, Columbus North, Bloomington North, and Edgewood. The Lady Pirates finished 10th out of 25 schools in the team standings and concluded the 2025 season with an overall record of 98-42.

Eleanor Davis placed 10th overall in the regional meet as the freshman ran a personal best of 18:42.2.  That finish qualified Davis for the IHSAA State Championships next weekend in Terre Haute. Eleanor now ranks #2 all-time for 5000m and set the freshman record at Greensburg Cross-Country.  Lulu Webb had her best performance of the season.  Webb ran under 20:00 for the first time ever.  She placed 38th in 19:46.6.  Webb is now the 8th fastest girl in school history and the 5th fastest freshman. 

Junior Alaina Bedel placed 96th overall in a time of 21:30.7.  Freshman Josie Slaven dropped over a minute off of her best time of the season.  Slaven ran a personal best of 21:55.2 for 123rd.  She now ranks 23rd at school history at Greensburg.  Alli Bedel also established a new personal best Saturday morning as she broke the 23:00 barrier for the first time ever.  The sophomore ran 22:41.4 and placed 157th overall. Chloie Davis had a time of 26:43.2 while Elizabeth Walden ended her first year of cross-country setting a new personal best of 28:29.0. 

Joe Hawkins and Eleanor Davis will represent Greensburg Community High School in the IHSAA State Championships next Saturday November 1st at the Lavern Gibson Championship Cross-Country Course.  The boys’ race begins at noon and the girls’ competition will begin at 1 pm in Terre Haute.
