Greensburg Cross Country Teams competed in the IHSAA Sectional 21

Greensburg’s Cross-Country teams competed in the IHSAA Sectional 21 at Brown County on Saturday morning.  In the boys’ race, Columbus North took seven on the first eight spots, winning the meet with 16 pts.  Senior Jace Works led the Bulldogs winning the race individually in 15:24.8.  Seymour was the runner up with 128 pts.  The Pirates placed third out of 14 teams scoring 131 pts.  The top five finish qualified the team for the Evansville Regional next weekend.  The Greensburg boys now have a record of 98-24 for the 2025 season. 

Joe Hawkins was the top finisher for Greensburg.  The senior placed 5th overall in 16:05.7 and earned all-sectional honors for the fourth season in a row.  Xavier Cassis was also all-sectional on Saturday.  Cassis placed 14th in 17:00.9.  Junior Quinton Walker took 21st place in a time of 17:19.3.  Henry Corya lowered his personal best at sectional.  Corya ran 18:24.4 for 5000m and was 41st overall in the race.  Patrick Robbins set a new personal record over the weekend as well.  The junior broke the 19:00 barrier for the first time running 18:58.5 for 52nd.  Xavier Wade recorded his fastest time ever for 5 km.  Wade finished 55th in 19:09.1.  Conner Bedel was 57th in 19:18.0.        

Senior Hannah Crain won the girls’ sectional race at Brown County in 18:20.0 while the Columbus North Bulldogs won the team title with 38 pts.  The Lady Pirates qualified for the Evansville Regional placing 5th out of 12 teams.  Eleanor Davis earned all-sectional honors and was the top runner for Greensburg.  The freshman broke 19:00 for the second time this season placing third overall in 18:59.8.  Lulu Webb was also all-sectional.  Webb placed 14th overall in 20:24.3.  Junior Alaina Bedel was 25th in the race in 21:53.4. 

Alli Bedel was next for Greensburg.  The sophomore placed 33rd in 23:05.5.  Freshman Josie Slaven lowered her personal best for the third time in the last four meets.  Slaven earned 37th in a time of 23:17.8. Chloie Davis finished 61st in 26:43.4.  Elizabeth Walden established in a new personal best at sectional Saturday morning.  The junior finished 69th overall in a 28:32.3.  Both teams qualified for the IHSAA Regional 5.  The boys’ race starts at 10:30 am CT.
