Greensburg Soccer 8/31/23

Lady Pirates Varsity Soccer falls to Madison Consolidated Cubs 6-1

The first point against Greensburg happened in the first minute of play. That would be the only point scored until the last five minutes of the first half. At the five-minute mark Freshman Izzy Taylor would have an assist from deep in the Pirate defense and send the ball to Junior Captain Genevieve Smith who would take it to the goal tying the game. The Cubs would beat the Pirate defensive line one more time before the half taking the Pirates into the half down 2-1.

The second half would find the Pirates struggling to possess the ball. Greensburg would not find any match for the additional five points the Cubs claimed. The Pirates would see no shots on goal in the second half, ending the game with a Pirate loss at 6-1.

Sophomore Keeper Madeline Shrader would see 22 shots on goal for the game.

This brings the Pirates to 3-3 for the season. They will not see any more action until September 11 when they will take on Batesville at home, game time is 5:30 pm. This is a start to a week full of games for the pirates. They will face East Central at home on September 12 at 6:00pm, Shelbyville at home on September 14 at 5:30 and a double header with the Boys team on September 16 against Rushville for the Battle of the Ball starting at 10am.
