Greensburg Soccer 9/18/21

For the first time since August 24, the Greensburg Boys Soccer Team played a game. The Greensburg Pirates welcomed the Rushville Lions on Saturday to play for the annual Battle For The Ball trophy. Greensburg started the game with plenty of energy and got after the Lions early, earning 2 corner kicks within the game’s first 5 minutes. The Lions were able to settle in and get 2 goals in the first half of action, coming from Carter Tague and Aritz Gomez. The Pirates continued to battle throughout the second half, being able to possess and get good scoring opportunities. With under 10 minutes left, Gomez found the back of the net again, extending the lead to 3-0. A free kick from senior Grayson Newhart found the back of the net before the final whistle, making sure the Pirates were not shut out on their home field. The Pirates fell 3-1 to the Lions and fall to 2-3 on the season (0-2 in EIAC).
