Greensburg track from Coach Katina Tekulve


Friday night the Greensburg Girls track and field team competed in the Decatur Central Joe Schott Twilight Invitational against 7 other teams. The Lady Pirates placed 4th overall behind Brownsburg, Greenfield Central, and Ben Davis. The Greensburg Girls team defeated Herron, Decatur Central, Shelbyville and Covenant Christian.
The night proved to be a success with 2 Individual Championships and 1 Runner Up Championship and several personal records. Freshman Emarie Jackson dominated in throwing as she won both the Shot Put and Discus events. The 2x Invite champion won shot put with a distance of 37’5″ and discus with a throw of 115′ 9″. Both throws were personal record performances for Ms. Jackson and put her on the All Time Top Ten Lists in Greensburg Lady Pirate history. Emarie is now the 8th best discus thrower and 9th best shot putter in school history.
Another personal record performance came from Emily Million, the high jump Runner Up champion. Ms Million cleared 5′ for the first time in her career. This mark ties her for the 10th best Lady Pirate high jumper in school history.
Emily Mangels also had a big night as she ran a personal best time in the 800 and placed 3rd overall in the event. Mangels placed 4th in the 1600 with a season best time as well.
