North Decatur High School Varsity Softball beat South Decatur High School 12-2


  • Kennedy Stier had a busy day at the plate on Tuesday, smacking four hits in Chargers‘s 12-2 victory over South Decatur. Stier singled in the first, singled in the second, singled in the third, and singled in the fourth.
  • Chargers opened up scoring in the first inning, when Kayln Muckerhide singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
  • In the bottom of the first inning, South Decatur tied things up at two. South Decatur scored one run when Kyra Fields singled.
  • Chargers pulled away for good with five runs in the third inning. In the third Keesha Crosland doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, Sarah Swain singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run, Macy Scudder singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run, Loryn Pate induced Raegan Nobbe to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored, and Stier singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.
  • Chargers scored five runs in the fourth inning. The rally was led by a walk by Muckerhide, by Clair Kinker, a fielder’s choice by Crosland, and an error on a ball put in play by Irene Moore.
  • Crosland pitched Chargers to victory. The righthander allowed four hits and two runs over three and a third innings, striking out five and walking zero. Swain threw one and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen. Swain recorded the last five outs to earn the save for Chargers.
  • Pate took the loss for South Decatur. The hurler allowed 13 hits and 12 runs over five innings, striking out two.
  • Chargers racked up 13 hits. StierScudderCrosland, and Muckerhide each racked up multiple hits for ChargersStier went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Chargers in hits.
  • Molly Eden led South Decatur with three hits in three at bats
