North Decatur Varsity Softball wraps up season with a regional loss

North Decatur Varsity Chargers had trouble keeping up with Indianapolis Lutheran Varsity Saints in an 18-0 loss on Tuesday.


Indianapolis Lutheran Varsity Saints got on the board in the top of the first inning after Kayla Burns singled, scoring one run, Brooklyn Barger singled, scoring two runs, and Zoe Sondag tripled, scoring one run.
 
Indianapolis Lutheran Varsity Saints scored five runs on five hits in the top of the second inning. Sarah Swain induced Mystic Means to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored, Leyla Miller singled, scoring one run, Sondag singled, scoring two runs, and Maddux Tindall singled, scoring one run.
 
A passed ball extended the Indianapolis Lutheran Varsity Saints lead to 10-0 in the top of the third inning.
 
Indianapolis Lutheran Varsity Saints scored eight runs on four hits in the top of the fourth inning. Sondag doubled, scoring one run, Grace King drew a walk, scoring one run, Means singled, scoring one run, Kendall Hostkoetter induced Caitlyn Brooks to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored, Means scored after tagging up, Brooks scored after tagging up, Delaney Cassinelli drew a walk, scoring one run, and King was struck by a pitch, driving in a run.
 
Barger earned the win for Indianapolis Lutheran Varsity Saints. The starting pitcher gave up two hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out six and walking none. Swain took the loss for North Decatur Varsity Chargers. The southpaw went two and two-thirds innings, giving up 10 runs (nine earned) on 11 hits, striking out one and walking two.
 
Carmen Thackery and Libby Crawford each collected one hit for North Decatur Varsity Chargers. Crawford made the most plays with five.
