North Decatur wins Baseball Sectional

North Decatur Chargers Varsity weathered a scare by South Decatur in the second inning where North Decatur Chargers Varsity coughed up three runs, but North Decatur Chargers Varsity still won 8-4 on Monday.  Colby Rathburn and Jansen McDonald all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.

North Decatur Chargers Varsity got things moving in the first inning.  Ried Messer doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.

North Decatur Chargers Varsity pulled away for good with two runs in the third inning.  In the third James Evans’s sac fly scored one run for North Decatur Chargers Varsity.

Tyler Dean was the winning pitcher for North Decatur Chargers Varsity. The pitcher surrendered zero runs on two hits over four and two-thirds innings, striking out four.

JP Scudder took the loss for South Decatur. The bulldog allowed five hits and four runs over six innings, striking out six.

Brayden Hancock started the game for North Decatur Chargers Varsity. The southpaw lasted two and a third innings, allowing five hits and four runs while striking out one and walking one Avery Seegers started the game for South Decatur. Seegers allowed four hits and four runs walking zero

North Decatur Chargers Varsity racked up nine hits in the game.  Nolan Burkhart and Messer each collected multiple hits for North Decatur Chargers Varsity.  Burkhart went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead North Decatur Chargers Varsity in hits.

Scudder led South Decatur with two hits in four at bats.
