The Greensburg Junior High Cross Country Teams travelled to Terre Haute to compete in the Indiana Middle School Cross Country Championships on Saturday. The LaVern Gibson Championship Course hosted the top teams and runners across the state of Indiana. The Lady Pirates placed 12th out of 55 teams and the Boys team placed 48th out of 62 teams.
Leading the Lady Pirates were Indiana All State Medalists Madeline Risher and Eleanor Davis. Madeline Risher placed 8th out of 462 runners with a career best time of 11:16.6. With her medal performance time, Madeline is now the fastest 7th grader in Greensburg history and the 3rd fastest All Time Greensburg Girls runner. Eleanor Davis also earned Indiana All State honors placing 22nd with a career best time of 11:32.8. Eleanor is now the 4th fastest 7th grader in history and the 5th fastest All Time.
Other notable performances by the girls came from Lulu Webb in 49th with a new PR of 12:10.2, Makayla Keiffer 119th in 12:48.9, Tensley Brewsaugh 319th with a new season best time of 14:09.5, Emma O’Sullivan 354th with a new season best of 14:28.7 and Kate McNulty 427th with a new career best of 15:34.4. In the JV race, Noelle Kern placed 153rd with a new career best time of 16:19.9.
The boys team was led by Henry Corya and Jackson Tekulve placing 160th and 164th out of 533 runners. Henry set a new personal record of 11:30.7 while Jackson ran a new PR of 11:31.9. All the boys ran well against really tough competition. Oliver Corya placed 301st in 12:21.6, Jack Bennett 432nd in 13:18.0, Christopher Walden 477th with a new PR of 13:49.8, Kason Bedel 482nd in 13:53.9 and Liam Hernandez 509th with a new PR 14:41.8
