Ernestine McIntyre, 77

Ernestine Fields McIntyre, 77, of Westport, passed away at 10:35 p.m. on June 1,
2023 at Aspen Place Health Campus in Greensburg. She was born on March 29, 1946
in Cornettsville, Kentucky the daughter of William Goebel and Alicene (Halcomb)
Fields. She was raised in Red Star, Kentucky and moved to Westport in 1967.
She graduated from Letcher High School in 1964. She attended Berea College and
graduated from Cumberland College. She earned her Master’s Degree from Indiana
University. Ernestine was a teacher at South Decatur High School where she
helped to start the Special Education Program. She retired in 2002 after 35
years of service. She was a member of the Westport Baptist Church, Euchre Club,
Decatur County Community Foundation Board and Greensburg-Decatur County Library
Board. She enjoyed antiquing, playing Euchre and visiting with friends. She
married Campbell “Buck” McIntyre on June 24, 1967 in Blackey, Kentucky. He
preceded her in death on August 26, 2005. She is survived by her daughter,
Alyson (Chad) Reiger of Fountaintown; her sisters, Martha Wilson of Port
Charlotte, Florida, Carol (Phillip) Brown of Blackey, Kentucky and Audrey (Sam)
White of Alabama; her Grandson, Campbell Reiger of Fountaintown. She was
preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brother-in-law, Dan Wilson; and
niece, Melissa Romer. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on
Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Rev. David
Scaggs officiating. Burial will follow at Westport Cemetery. A time of
visitation will be held on Monday, June 5, 2023 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the
funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Buck McIntyre Scholarship at
