Alfred L. Hoeing, 92

Alfred L. Hoeing, 92 of Greensburg passed away Saturday, May 14th at his home in Greensburg, IN.  He was born March 28, 1930 to the late Joseph B. and Agnes (Butz) Hoeing. 

On October 5, 1957, he married Romilda L. Riehle in Sunman and she preceded him in death on January 21, 2018.  He graduated from Sandusky High School in 1949 and was a member of the Blackhawks basketball team.  He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and in 2016 was a member of the IN Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.

Alfred worked for Hargitt Construction and farmed on the side. He loved to tell a good joke and “jaw” with people.  He enjoyed playing cards and working on cross-word puzzles.

He is survived by four children, Randall (Marilyn) Hoeing, Diane (John) Wenning, Melinda (Joseph) Herbert, and Deborah (Gregory) Navarra, all of Greensburg. Grandchildren, Aaron (Amanda) Hoeing, Stephanie (Keith) Wimsatt, Ken Wenning, Amber (Brandon) Tucker, Karen Herbert, Sarah Herbert (Nico Manusso), David (Emily) Navarra, and Matthew (Morgan) Navarra. Great Grandchildren, Audrina Tucker, Everly Tucker, and Lucas Navarra. Brothers, Jerome (Kathleen) Hoeing of Greensburg, and Sheldon (Mary) Hoeing of Rushville. Sisters, Delores Bruns and Marieda (Jim) Koors both of Greensburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers, Marvin, Maurice, and Carroll Hoeing, and sister, Doreen Rosfeld. 

Family and friends will gather at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church to pray the rosary. Visitation will follow until the funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. John Meyer officiating. 

Interment with full military honors will be held in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Greensburg following the funeral Mass.
