Anita Louise Hammond, 79

Anita Louise Hammond, 79, of Franklin, passed away at 9:56 a.m. on Monday, August 2, 2021 at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin. She was born on February 14, 1942 the daughter of Lester and Franklyn (Stewart) Sweeney. She was a graduate of Sandcreek High School. Anita enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandkids. She married Charles Lee “Chuck” Hammond in Kittery, Maine on August 3, 1962 and he preceded her in death on December 12, 2015. Survivors include her daughters, Nina L. Perez of Indianapolis and Scharlette L. Quantz of Franklin; her sons, Charles L. Hammond, II of Franklin, David L. (JoLynn) Hammond of New Whiteland and Franklin L. (Jennifer) Hammond of Indianapolis; her sisters, Carol Ellis of Washington, IN and Ginger White of Bedford; her brother, Douglas Sweeney, of Bedford; her 16 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. The funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 8, 2021 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Pastor Brian Clark officiating. The family will receive visitors on Sunday, August 8, 2021 from 2:00 P.M. until time of service at 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Springer Cemetery. We ask visitors to follow social distancing guidelines inside the funeral home and masks are recommended. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Wounded Warriors Project.
