Bernard Joseph Diekhoff, 77

Bernard Joseph Diekhoff, 77, of the St. Denis community, Westport passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 7, 2022 at Sebring, Florida. He was born on November 17, 1944 in Decatur County, the son of Joseph B. and Lenora R. (Zapfe) Diekhoff. He had graduated from North Vernon High School in 1962. He was a farmer. Bernard was a member of the former St. Denis Catholic Church and had served on the St. Denis Parish Council for several years. He also served on the                    Jennings County Extension Board and was a member of the Jennings County Pork Producers. He married Jerry Lee Green on February 27, 1965 at the St. Denis Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on January 12, 2022. Bernard is survived by his son, Robert; wife, Teresa Diekhoff of Westport; daughters, Amy L. Speer of Greensburg, Melissa, husband, Matt Harsh of North Vernon, Becky, husband Erik Burkhead of Westport and Jennifer, husband Russ Flynn of Bedford, Indiana. Grandchildren, Kassidie (Chris) Dickson, Delanie (Walker) Gabbard and Cody Diekhoff, Jordyn (Dallas) Mullins and Logan Speer, Dalton, Madisyn, Alexis and Stone Harsh, Spencer and Reece Burkhead, Zach, Seth and Brittney Flynn and great grandchildren, Maklynn Joleen Speer, Joshua A. Gabbard, Grayson R. Mullins and Jacob Gabbard. Also surviving are his sisters, Esther (Eddie) Hill of Russiaville and Helen Kramer of Greensburg; his brothers, Arthur (Ann) Diekhoff of North Vernon, Maurice (Barbara) Diekhoff of Columbus and Lawrence Diekhoff of North Vernon. He was preceded death by his parents; his sister, Rose Ann Schwering; his brothers, Francis, Walter & Alfred Diekhoff; his granddaughter, Makenzie Ray Diekhoff. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Millhousen at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2022 with Father John Meyer officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Denis Catholic Cemetery. Visitation for Bernard will be held on Friday, March 18, 2022 from 3:30 until 8:30 p.m. a rosary will be prayed at 3:00 prior to visitation at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in the Cystic Fibrosis Section of the hospital in memory of Makenzie Ray Diekhoff.
