Brenda J. Powers, 80, of Greensburg, passed away at 3:55 a.m. on Thursday, March
13, 2025, at Morning Breeze Healthcare in Greensburg. She was born on January
14, 1945, in Greensburg, the daughter of Earl Robert & Luella Marie (Snow)
Green. She had resided in Decatur, Shelby and Bartholomew Counties. She was a
graduate of Burney High School and had been a teacher’s aide at Haven Center in
Shelbyville. She was a member of Fredonia Community Church. She enjoyed
painting, sewing, flowers and spending time with her grandchildren. She married
Maurice Jack Powers, Sr. on January 13, 1962, in Livingston, Tennessee. He
preceded her in death on May 30, 2022. She is survived by her daughters, Lisa
Shaw of Denver, Colorado, Gina (Chris) Bolt of Greenwood, Mariah (Tom) Flynn of
Denver, Colorado, her son, Jeff (Buffy) Powers of Waldron, her sister, Pam
Elliott of Greensburg, her brothers, Stephen Edward Green of Westport, Rick
Green of Clarksburg, Kevin Green of Greensburg; her daughter-in-law, Michelle
Powers of Shelbyville; her son-in-law, Brendan Alexander of Shelbyville; 16
grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her
parents; her husband; her son, Jack Powers, Jr.; her daughter, Michelle
Alexander; her sister, Donna Marie Moore; her brothers, Billy & Earl Robert
Green and her grandson Josh Hartford. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00
p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home with Pastor
Dennis Hirschauer officiating. Burial will follow at Union Presbyterian
Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, from
12:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial
contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Riley Children’s
