Carol Smiley, 78

Carol L. Smiley, 78, of Greensburg, passed away at 11:20 p.m. on Tuesday,
April 25, 2023, in Greensburg. She was born on December 13,1944 in Shelby
County, the daughter of William and Rebecca (Brown) Tucker. She graduated in
1962 from Shelbyville High School and moved to Decatur County in 1969. She
retired from General Electric/Wellman Mfg. in Shelbyville after 44 years of
service. Carol was a member of the Burney Baptist Church and the Kitchen Kookies
Home Economics Club. She enjoyed playing cards, dominos with her friends,
reading and cross stitching. Survivors include her daughter, Lynne (Tony)
Pfeifer of Greensburg; her granddaughter, Becky Pfeifer of Greensburg; her
sisters, Barbara Skillman and Karen Balting both of Shelbyville and several
nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Michael DeBusk,
Ben Applegate, Tom Smiley and her sister, Elizabeth Brown. The funeral service
will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 1, 2023, at the Bass & Gasper
Funeral Home in Westport with Pastor Janet Hodson officiating. Burial will
follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held on Sunday,
April 30, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial
contributions may be made to the Burney Baptist Church or Our Hospice of South
