Delores Bruns, 89

Delores “Dee” Marie (née Hoeing) Bruns, 89, of Greensburg, IN, passed away on January 5, 2024.  She was born on February 12, 1934 in rural Decatur County, the daughter of Joseph B. and Agnes (Butz) Hoeing.  Delores was a 1952 graduate of Sandusky High School.  She married Robert J. Bruns on May 11, 1957 and together they had five children.  She worked as a bank teller at Union Bank and Trust before becoming a mother and homemaker.  She was a longtime member of St Mary’s Catholic Church, often donating her famous pies for funeral meals.  She enjoyed traveling to state and national parks with her family. Her competitive nature came out when playing Euchre with friends and family.  She was a devoted fan to her teams  – the Cincinnati Reds, Purdue Boilermakers, and the Indianapolis Colts. Her preparation for Purdue football tailgates are legendary.

Survivors include sons: Michael (Margaret) Bruns and Steven (Ivette) Bruns; daughters: Marjorie Bruns and Kathy (Michael) Flinn; 10 grandchildren: Stephanie, Robert, Molly, AJ, Matthew, Daniel, Annie, Ellen, Jonathan and Emma; sister, Marieda (Jim) Koors; and brother, Sheldon (Mary) Hoeing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Agnes Hoeing; husband, Robert “Bob” Bruns; son, Larry Joseph Bruns; brothers: Marvin, Maurice, Carroll, Alfred and Jerome Hoeing; and twin sister, Dorine Rosfeld.

Delores will be deeply missed.  Family and Friends are invited to pray the rosary with the family, Friday, January 12, 2024, at 8:30 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1331 East Hunter Robbins Way, Greensburg, Indiana.  A reception style (no line) visitation will follow until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am with Father John Meyer officiating.  Burial immediately following at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
