Donald Wayne Spicer, 72

Donald Wayne Spicer, 72, of North Vernon, passed away at 8:33 a.m. on Friday, January 22, 2021 at Columbus Regional Hospital. He was born on July 7, 1948 in Seymour, Indiana the son of Ralph Emerson Spicer and Virginia (Nichols) Wilson. He was raised in the Hayden and Crothersville area and graduated from Crothersville High School in 1954. He has been a resident of the North Vernon area for the past 24 years. He retired from Cummins Engine Company after 46 years of service where he worked in the Marine group and test cells. He enjoyed playing music especially Bluegrass, babysitting for his grandchildren, cooking, and attending the grandkids extracurricular activities. He married Malinda Ann Idlewine in Gatlinburg, Tennessee on July 4, 2007 she survives. Other survivors include his daughters, Hope (Richard) Moore of Westport, Carrie Ann (Matt) Elliott of Greensburg; his sons, Devan (Rhiannon) Spicer of North Vernon and Willie (Anita) Feldman of Greensburg; his sisters, Beverly (Raymond) Rascoe of Hayden and Kathi (Larry) Hendricks of Columbus; his brother, Ray Spicer of Hayden; his step brother, Larry (Sandra) Phelps of Columbus and Barry Phelps of Summerville, Georgia; his 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Rev. Mark Vice officiating. Burial will follow at the Westport Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
