Dyar Wayne Forkert, 82, of Greensburg passed away on March 17, 2021. He was born on September 7, 1938 in Decatur County, the son of Henry H. and Myrtle (Koenigkramer) Forkert. Dyar was a 1956 graduate of the Greensburg Community High School. On April 12, 1959 he married Judith Roszell and together they had four children: Kristina, Kathryn, Ryan and Scott. He worked in banking in Greensburg for 42 years as a Commercial Loan Officer before retiring, in 2002. Dyar enjoyed golfing, camping, horseracing, and collegiate and professional sports. Dyar was an active member of the Greensburg United Methodist Church, Lions Club, Order of the Eastern Star, Masons, Scottish Rite, and Shriners. He served many years on the Greensburg School Board and one term as the President. Dyar was a long-standing member of the Economy Development Corporation Board. In 2001, Dyar was the recipient of the Decatur County Chamber of Commerce Community Service Award.
Survivors include: Daughters, Kristina (Michael) Wright of Tokyo, Japan and Kathryn McCreary of Greensburg; Sons, Ryan (Travis Hodge) Forkert of Upper Marlboro, MD and Scott (Jodie) Forkert of Greensburg; Sister-in-Laws, Norma Forkert and Nancy (Conrad) Kress; Grandchildren, Chase McCreary, Riley McCreary, Jared Wright, Brayden Forkert and Shelby Forkert. He was preceded in death by his Parents; Wife, Judith Forkert; Sisters, Ruth McClintic and Willa Ford; and Brother, Rollan Forkert.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home on Monday, March 22, 2021 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Chris Stephens officiating. Burial will follow at the South Park Cemetery.
