Florence Irene Hamilton, 89, of Westport, passed away at 4:45 a.m. on Monday,
July 18, 2022 at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was born November 25,
1932 in Jennings County, the daughter of Clint and Alma Mae (McDaniel) Childs.
She was born and raised in Jennings and Bartholomew Counties and has been a
resident of Decatur County for most of her adult life. She retired in 1976 from
Muscatatuck Developmental Center after 15 years of service. She married Clifton
Hamilton in North Vernon, Indiana on June 24, 1949. He preceded her in death on
March 29, 2005. Survivors include her daughters, Sheila Ann Wilson of
Burlington, Kentucky, Charlotte Marie Weigel of Columbus, Brenda K. Rawlinson of
Westport; her son, Bruce Wayne Hamilton of Hope; her 8 grandchildren; her 11
great grandchildren and her 7 great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in
death by her parents; her husband; her sister, Ruth Marie Irwin; her brother,
Robert Lee Childs and her grandson, Gary Fields. Graveside services will be
conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 22, 2022 at the Bear Creek Cemetery with
Rev. Doug Brougher officiating. Memorial contributions may be made through the
funeral home to the Bear Creek Cemetery, American Heart Association or Shriners
Hospitals for Children. The Bass & Gasper has been entrusted with the services.
