Frances Alice Galyen, 100, of Hartsville, Indiana passed away at 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 10, 2022 at the Heritage House Nursing Home in Greensburg. She was born on November 19, 1921 in North Vernon, the daughter of Carl Bortz and Lela Catherine (Gooding) Wilkerson. She was a long time resident of Decatur County, until she and her husband sold their farm and built a house near Hartsville. She graduated from Scipio High School in 1940. Frances enjoyed sewing, cooking and canning. She married Orville Gaylen in Vernon, Indiana on November 16, 1940. He preceded her in death on January 22, 2011. Survivors include her daughter, Karen (Richard) Klein of Alexandria, Virginia; her sister, Bonnie Meek; her brother, Marvin Wilkerson and her six grandchildren and her five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Orville Galyen, her daughters, Marilynn June Galyen and Sharolyn Brooks. The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on August 6, 2022 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport. Burial will follow at the Butlerville Cemetery.
