Gerald “Wayne” Wade, 82

Gerald “Wayne” Wade, 82, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at the Heritage House Nursing Home in Greensburg. He was born on February 11, 1940, in Pekin, Indiana the son of Raymond and Mercedes Wade.

Wayne married Bonnie L. Caffee on June 2, 1961, and she survives.

Wayne worked as a power plant start-up engineer for Process Operators for eleven and a half years. He then went on to serve as Maintenance Director at Decatur County Memorial Hospital. He worked there for thirty-two years and retired. Wayne was always known as a calm man with a smile on his face. He was wise, never boasted, and was willing to help anyone in need. Wayne enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He loved his family, and his grandchildren meant the world to him. He will be loved and missed by all who knew him.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Bonnie, children: Dewayne (Helen) Wade, Tina (Rob) Hunter; 9 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 5 siblings; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 6 siblings.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, also at the funeral home, with Rev. Terry Canfield officiating. Burial will take place at Smyrna Lutheran Cemetery in Greensburg.
