Harold Vogt

It is with heavy hearts, we announce the death of Harold Vogt of Batesville, IN, who
passed away suddenly on October 11, 2023, at the age of 77. Harold was born on
December 7, 1945, to Melvin and Oda (nee Broughton) Vogt. He graduated from
Sunman High School and in 1968 proudly enlisted in the US Army.

Harold is survived by his loving wife, Wanda (nee Hornberger); children Gina Eschman
(Jeff Bischoff) of St. Leon IN, John Vogt of Switzerland County, IN, Lisa Vogt of
Valparaiso, IN, Jeff Vogt of Lawrenceburg, IN, Brad Lunsford (Theresa) of Batesville, IN
and Melissa Hill (RD) of Lebanon, OH; grandchildren Joshua Vogt, Aaron Annis, Maggie
Vogt, John Paul Vogt, Emily Rodgers, Alyssa Welte, Molly Vogt, Cody Lunsford, Lucas
Lunsford, Ty Hill, Kylee Hill, and 14 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his
brother Robert Vogt, Loveland, OH and Bev Lamping (Francis) Hamburg, IN. Harold
was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Raymond, Larry, Jerry, grandson Rocky
Annis and sister-in-law Carol.

Harold and Wanda enjoyed traveling and shared many cherished memories together.
Harold was a member of the Batesville Christian Church. He worked for American
Manufacturing and later at Tops Home Center in Greensburg, IN. Harold enjoyed
mowing the grass and tending to his yard. He also liked cheering on his favorite sports
teams, including the Bengals, Cincinnati Reds, and IU basketball. In addition, he was an
avid reader and master of crossword puzzles.

Visitation will be held Saturday, October 14 th, from 1 – 4 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home
with a funeral service immediately following at the funeral home. Military rites will be
conducted by the Ripley County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3183 and the Prell-
Bland American Legion Post #271 of Batesville on the funeral home plaza immediately
following the service. Donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association or
