James Monroe Cummins, 87, of New Point, passed away on November 29, 2024. He was born on April 22, 1937 in Laurel, Indiana the son of Charles and Bonnie Tussey Cummins. James was a truck driver. On August 3, 1959 he married Ellen Louise Carlton and together they had two daughters Charlene “Sis” and Jama. James enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and camping. He loved all his grandbabies and he loved to invite people over to cook a dinner.
Survivors include: daughters, Charlene “Sis” (Jerome) Billman and Jama (Danny) Hess; grandchildren, Dr. Christopher Thomas, Patricia (Matt) Buzzard, J.D. Hess, Riley Peterson, Shawntae Hess and Stacy Hess; seven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; sister, Nancy (Doug) Herd; dog, Betsy; and cat, Fat-Cat. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Ellen Louise Cummins; sisters, Kathleen “Katie” Thompson, Judy Cooper, and Patty (Bill) Herd; and brothers, Donald “Bo” Cummins, Arthur “Pug” Cummins, Robert “Beeb” Cummins and Ralph “Peck” Cummins.
