Jose “Joe” P. Pastagal, Jr., 75, of Greensburg, Indiana, passed away on April 8, 2021 at IU Health Hospital, Indianapolis. He was born on August 27, 1945 in Gloucester, MA, the son of Jose P., Sr. and Grace O. (Riley) Pastagal. Joe was a 1965 graduate of Gloucester High School. He served in the United States Navy as an Aviation Electrician from 1965 – 1969. Graduate of Indiana Vocational Technical College.
While flying standby for a 10 day leave home, he met, Shirley Brown, the love of his life. They married January 2, 1969 in Greensburg, Indiana, where they made their home. He was a Maintenance Technician II at Decatur County Memorial Hospital for 35 1/2 years. He enjoyed watching football and basketball, boating, traveling to Portugal and Caribbean Islands. He loved spending time with friends, family and his special girl, Zoe. He will be greatly missed by his Dutch Shepard, Ivy. Joe served on the Greensburg YMCA Board and Greensburg United Methodist Church Trustees.
He is survived by his Wife, Shirley Pastagal; Special Granddaughter, Zoe Peters; Brother, Andrew (Kathy) Pastagal, Sr., Gloucester, MA; Nephews, Eric (Felicia) Pastagal and Peter (Dawn) Pastagal of Gloucester, MA; Andy Pastagal, Jr., Scottsdale, AZ; Joseph Pastagal, San Diego, CA; Two Great Nieces and Two Great Nephews of MA. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Brothers, Wayne G. Pastagal and Herbert P. Pastagal; Grandparents Herbert & Elmira (Machado) Riley; Father and Mother In-law, Floyd and Ellen Brown.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home on Friday, April 16, 2021 from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral at 1:00 pm with Rev. Chris Stephens officiating. Burial will follow at the South Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Family or the Greensburg United Methodist Church.
