Lanny Clay Thomas, age 68 of New Point, IN passed away on Friday, June 11, 2021 at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, OH. The son of Bennie and Louise (Combs) Thomas was born on June 20, 1952 in Whitco, Kentucky.
Lanny married Debra Sue Wells on November 22, 1975 and were married for 43 years before she passed away in June 2019.
Lanny worked primarily as a painter at American Lifts. He proudly served on both the New Point Fire Department and the New Point Town Board for over 25 years. The North Decatur High School graduate was a member of the New Point Christian Church.
Lanny took an interest in classic cars and had a couple himself over the years. He liked attending and watching NASCAR races too. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter.
He is survived by his mother, Louise Thomas of New Point; daughter, Carla Thomas of New Point ; son, Robert (Lindsey) Thomas of New Point; granddaughter, Clara Marie Thomas along with his brothers, Ronny Thomas and Jeff (Stephanie) Thomas both of Batesville.
In addition to his father and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother Danny Thomas Sr.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 17, 2021 from 5-7pm and funeral services on Friday, June 18th at 10:00am all at New Point Christian Church. Mark Vice officiating. Burial will follow in the Rossburg Cemetery.
