Laura Lee Scudder, 62

Laura Lee Scudder, 62, of Greensburg, IN passed away on October 7, 2021, at IU Health University Hospital.  She was born on August 27, 1959, in Los Angeles, California, the daughter of Frederick R. Emery and Mary K. Kramer.

Laura married Lawrence James Fischer on November 22, 1977, who she had three children with: Phillip J. Fischer, Amanda M. Fischer, and Adam L. Fischer.

Laura was a ball of untamed energy, she knew no stranger, and was as fearless as they came. She believed that music was the answer to any situation, happy, exciting, or sad. She could be found singing throughout the house, while driving in the car, and if it was your birthday, or any special day, she would call you just to sing to you.

Laura had the unique ability to bring joy and laughter to anyone that needed uplifted. She would brag about how often she would get through to 1330 WTRE and how many times she would win due to her persistence. She was a professional when it came to marathon telephone calls that would often start with one of her sisters, continue with one of her children, and round out with her niece, Heather Lee, or a second round with a sister or friend. She would bake for anyone willing to eat, give to anyone in need, and love anyone who allowed her to love them. Laura’s friends and family knew when you walked into her house you would smell a baking scented candle and be offered fresh marshmallow treat bars or other treats and “no” was not an option. She wore her baking aprons with the utmost pride.

Laura prided herself on her ability to work hard and make a difference no matter where she worked, whether it was as a supervisor for Valeo Engine Cooling or helping customers at Tractor Supply Company. Laura loved her customers and coworkers like family, and she loved to hear all the juicy stories anyone was willing to share.

She found partnership a second time in life when she married Robert Eugene Scudder on June 27, 1998. Laura was very strong in her faith as a Christian and she would pray for everyone and anyone that would ask. She loved being a Christian and would talk about her love of God with anyone that would speak about it.

Laura loved her family fiercely. She is survived by her three children and their partners, Phillip Fischer and Britni Saunders, Amanda Fischer and Alex Morrow, and Adam Fischer and Lea Hagerty; 7 Grandchildren, Kelsie Dolan, Alexis Fischer, Shrayder Fischer, Phoenix Morrow, Brooklyn Morrow, Greyson Fischer, and Liam Fischer; 1 Great Grandchild, Maya Grubb; 4 Siblings and their partners, Vicki Thurston and Robert Thurston, Terrie Finney, Linda Mustin and Chris Mustin and Robin Selby; and several nieces and nephews.

Laura was preceded in death by her parents; Mark K Maloney and Daniel J Maloney; her husband Lawrence J Fischer; her sister Mary Leanne Winstead and a brother-in-law Tim Selby.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2021, at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home in Greensburg, Indiana from 4:00 pm until the time of the funeral at 5:30 pm.
