Lydiann Smith, 85

Lydiann Smith, age 85 of New Point, IN passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2022. The daughter of Vincent and Mary Jane (nee: Kirshbaum) Herbert was born on November 6, 1936 in Ripley County, Indiana.

Lydiann held several jobs, starting at Bob’s Truck Stop then Ross Point Truck Stop and eventually moving onto Union Furniture company for many years. Upon their closing, she worked for Superior Wood Restoration and then DSI in Greensburg.

Lydiann was a member of New Point Christian Church and served as a Sunday School teacher. She was also a former member of the Twilighters Home Ec Club.

Most knew Lydiann loved her flowers. Always tending to her plants and various flowers inside and out. She was an avid card player and really enjoyed playing euchre. Lydiann was quite the woodworker and quilter too, taking the time to make quilts for all of her grandchildren.  She especially loved preparing family meals at the holidays and spending time with her family partaking in the wonderful food and their fellowship.

She is survived by her son, Stanley Smith and daughter, Cathy (Charles) Kessens; 5 grandchildren, Angela Hickmott, Tabitha Cazzell, Nathaniel Kessens, Abigail Mauer and Timothy Kessens; 16 great-grandchildren, David, Dustyn & Daniel Willard, Breanna & Brendyn Cazzell, Korvin, Lukas, Trinity & Joseph Kessens, Mackenzee, Kylee, Kaden, Alyssa & Hazel Mauer, Jackson & Emmett Kessens; and 1 great-great granddaughter, Elizabeth Willard; along with siblings, Dolly Holman, Vincent Herbert and David Herbert.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Smith, sister Ginny Bedel and brother, Dale Herbert.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 10, 2022 from 10:00am until time of funeral services at 12:00pm all at the New Point Christian Church.  Mark Vice officiating.  Burial will follow in the Rossburg Cemetery.
