Marilyn Frensemeier, 87

Marilyn B. Frensemeier entered into eternal life with Christ on January 25, 2023 at Aspen Place in Greensburg, Indiana. She was born in Elizabethtown, Ohio (Hamilton County) on January 16, 1936 to Everett and Roberta (Stokes) Waltz. She grew up just outside of Brookville in Franklin County, Indiana and was a member of the Whitcomb United Methodist Church. After graduating from Springfield High School in 1954 she went on to Ball State University where she earned a Master’s Degree in Education. She began her teaching career in Muncie, Indiana and it was there that she met Bob Frensemeier, another teacher, who was originally from Greensburg, Indiana.

Marilyn and Bob were married on November 28, 1963 at Whitcomb United Methodist Church in Franklin County, Indiana. They were blessed to become parents to Jeffrey Robert, Steven Mitchell, and Susan Maria. They returned to Greensburg to raise their family and were both involved in the Greensburg School Corporation with Marilyn becoming a substitute teacher, often filling in for teachers on medical and maternity leaves. She loved this work and remembered the children that she had in class. She was a “classroom grandma” at Greensburg Elementary for many years and enjoyed this as well. While she was devoted to children in the public schools, she was especially devoted to her children and grandchildren who lovingly referred to her as “Mamaw”.

Marilyn and Bob were members of First Christian Church of Greensburg, Indiana. Their worship there and the relationships they had with their church family were central to their lives.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Robert Brown Frensemeier. She was also preceded in death by her sister Patsy Waltz Lanning, her brother Loren Waltz, sisters-in-law Jane Frensemeier Metz and Ruth Frensemeier Coleman, brothers-in-law Charles Metz, John Hayes and Quentin Lanning, and her nephew Zachary Voelz.

Surviving are son Jeff and his wife Gretchen E. Muuss Frensemeier; son Steve and his wife Tracy L. Baldwin Frensemeier and their children Avery Lane Browning, Erin Lynae Browning, James Robert Frensemeier and Walker Mitchell Frensemeier; daughter Susan and her husband Brent Moore and their sons Clayton Allen Moore and Louis Walker Moore; sisters-in-law Judy Frensemeier Hayes and Wanda Waltz; brother-in-law Jean Coleman and many nieces and nephews.
