Mark Eugene Carson, 71, of Osgood, passed away on April 9, 2026, at Decatur County Memorial Hospital.
Born on October 14, 1954, in Batesville, Indiana, Mark was the son of Clarence and Helen (Haley) Carson. He graduated from North Decatur High School in 1972. Following graduation, Mark began his career at Hillrom, where he worked in the fabrication department for 45 years, dedicating himself faithfully to his work.
On May 24, 1975, Mark married Patricia “Patty” Ann McCullough at New Point Christian Church, and she survives. He was a devoted member of New Point Christian Church, where he previously served as a deacon.
Mark had a passion for woodworking and took great pride in building furniture. He also enjoyed gardening, yard work—especially planting trees—and in his younger years, he enjoyed playing the guitar and working with model trains. Above all, Mark cherished time spent at home with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patty Carson; children, Jodi (Roger) Collins, Christina (Michael) Summey, Elizabeth McCarty, Craig Carson, and Rebecca Carson; grandchildren, Brianna Brooks, Abigail Collins, Emma McCarty, Tanner McCarty, Logan Summey, Ethan Summey, Olivia Collins, and Austin Collins; sisters, Debra (David) Yeggy and Diane (Jesus) Celaya; along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, April 13, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home. An additional hour of visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at New Point Christian Church. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church.
Burial will take place at Rossburg Cemetery in New Point.
