It is with great sorrow that the family of Marsha Lay, age 78 of Greensburg, Indiana announces her passing on January 21, 2021. Marsha lived life with compassion and kindness. She will be remembered for her sass, sense of humor, and fun-loving nature. She loved fashion, babies, fishing, gardening, and long drives in the country.
A native of Greensburg, Marsha was born on March 9, 1942, to Marcille and Marvin Stutz. She was a 1960 graduate of Greensburg Community High School, where she enjoyed cheerleading and playing saxophone in the band. Shortly after graduation, she went on to become Miss Decatur County of 1960. She also attended Indiana University. She enjoyed working in retail clothing sales, caring for children at a local daycare, and being a nanny. She and her husband enjoyed many years of retirement at Lake Santee in Greensburg.
Marsha is survived by her husband of 28 years Maury Lay of Greensburg; children, Christopher B. (Christine) Cook of Rochester, New York; Tracey S. (Seung Lee) Cook-Lee of Seattle, Washington; and Andrew J. (Lisa) Cook of Martinsville, Indiana, step-daughter Erika (Ned) Show of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Colin H. Cook, Parker Wooju Lee, Caitlyn E. Cook, Ethan M. Show, and Vivienne C. Show; brother, John T. Stutz; brother-in-law, Bob (Betsy) Lay; and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law Janie Stutz.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, January 24th from 2-4 p.m. and a private funeral on Monday, January 25th at 1 p.m. at Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home in Greensburg, Indiana with Pastor Gale Stutz officiating. A Facebook Live Funeral Service will be broadcast on the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home Facebook Page. All visitors will have to wear a mask and observe social distancing, and all public visitation guidelines are subject to change based on current Board of Health restrictions. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request that contributions to a favorite charity of your choice be made in her name.
