Mary Louise Mobley Theobald, age 99 passed away peacefully Friday, August 6th at Aspen Place in Greensburg.
She was born in Decatur County June 14, 1922, to Urba M. (Ryle) Scripture and Ernest E. Scripture. She resided in Decatur County most of her life.
Mary graduated from Greensburg High School in 1940. She married Elsworth Mobley (deceased in 1963) in 1941. Together, they raised four children; three sons, Mike, Tom, and Dan Mobley and one daughter, Mary Ann Mobley Barnett.
Mary married William R. Theobald in 1965. William passed away June 25, 2020.
She was employed at Jackson Office Equipment and the Decatur County Sherriff Department. Mary was also the first female County Auditor in Decatur County in 1965.
Mary is predeceased by her parents, brother Earl Scripture and two sons, Mike and Tom Mobley, nephew, Bill Scripture.
Mary was a true gift from God. She enjoyed life to the fullest. She was well known for her beautiful penmanship among many. She played her hammered dulcimer for many civic events. Mary enjoyed poetry, baking (her famous yeast rolls and preparing delicious Sunday lunches for her family.
Mary loved spending time with her family and friends, she truly touched everyone she met with kindness, generosity and love.
Survivors include son Dan W. Mobley (Debbie), daughter Mary Ann Barnett (Gerald), Grandchildren Christopher Mobley (Marcie), Patrick Mobley (Nicole) Jennifer Bell, Melissa and Jenny Mobley, Andrew and Ian Mobley, Todd Barnett and Rebecca Redfern; 11 great grandchildren and daughter in law, Juanita Mobley, several cousins and nephew Joe Scripture.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, August 9, 2021, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. Funeral Services will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Jerran Jackson officiating.
